What Can I Expect When I See A Chiropractor?

Once your initial consultation and examination are complete and where diagnosis shows that your condition can benefit from a course of  Chiropractic treatment, this will be explained to you .

The number of treatments you will need depends on your particular condition. Some general examples are;        * 3 to 6 treatments for a simple case of low back pain that you have had for only a short period of time.

* 6 to 12 treatments for a long standing condition. Follow up sessions at regular intervals may be necessary to maintain improvement.

Treatment takes the form of gentle, specific manipulations to the individual joints of the spine. Professional advice on bending, lifting,  and any other preventative precautions you should take will be given.

You will also be advised on posture, postural aids and excercise.

Payment should be made at the time of treatment. Most private insurance schemes including PPP and BUPA cover the cost of Chiropractic treatment  with G.P. or occasionally Specialist referral, the patient should check with their healthcare provider before treatment begins.

Chiropractic treatment is usually painless unless an area is inflamed, in which case treatment will be modified.

Don’t worry if you  hear a clicking or popping  noise  when one of your joints is being adjusted this is perfectly normal.

It is also  normal  to  experience some reaction to treatment, including temporary increase in discomfort, stiffness or tiredness for a day or so.

On the  other hand you may feel more energetic .

It is  important  that  you  talk  to  your Chiropractor if you feel worried about anything either during or after treatment.
